Shauna McLean recently completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Waterloo, with a major in Social Development Studies and a minor in Psychology.
This research project, entitled “Ideology and Inequality in Canadian Sex Education Films: A Brief History,” was completed as a senior independent study under the guidance and direction of Dr. Kristina R. Llewellyn.
Shauna has a keen interest in the history of sexual education in Canada, particularly in terms of the development and implementation of sex-equitable educational approaches. She is also interested in understanding how visual, and especially artistic, mediums can be used to initiate and sustain dialogue with disadvantaged, oppressed, and marginalized groups. Her future graduate research will investigate the therapeutic intersections of these varied interests.
Shauna currently resides in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia.
